Fueling your Ultra

Fueling an ultra run or ultra multisport race is much more than an ironman distance triathlon. With each hour, your body changes, fatigue sets in, the psychological highs/lows, the energy highs/lows, appetite changes, and the weather, geography and terrain.

If you registered for Hardrock 100, Western States 100, Silverton Dirty Ultra, Javelina Jundred, SD100, Cuyamaca 100, Mammoth Trailfest, a trail marathon or 30 mile race, contact us to create a race day fueling plan. Since the ideal race day plan requires practice, the Ultra Plan also includes time to test out the race day plan. Conditions won’t be the same as race day, but a simulated intake of fluid and fuel is the best way to prepare.

For a more comprehensive approach to include recommendations on your daily meal and nutrition plans, a three month consult plan would provide additional support and resources to answer all your questions as they occur.

  3. We calculate A) energy needs (calories, macro’s), B) collect details & logistics of your trip, C) create a plan & shopping list for fueling & hydration recommendations.
