Optimum Wellness Nutrition

Optimum Wellness Nutrition

The  Optimum Wellness Plan follows the philosophies of functional medicine and integrative nutrition.  If you are active, “generally healthy”, proactive about eating well and exercising, but want to determine how to reduce symptoms, fatigue, or ensure your nutrition intake supports your lifestyle, this is the program for you. This plan is recommended during the “off season” for a competitive athlete, and does not include fueling for training and racing.

Optimized Wellness is personalized to your goals.

These are examples of topics reviewed, and will only be discussed if applicable.

Outline of the Plan:

  • Weeks 1 – 4:
    • Dietary Analysis: Food, beverage, supplement, review after one week of food logging. Will be reviewed in larger context of your daily life, athletic goals, or health/metabolic goals.
      • Behavioral and lifestyle: work, life schedule and obstacles to implementing change
      • Identify triggers of overeating, undereating, or restrictive eating (if applicable)
      • Review biochemical lab results (e.g. lipid panel, complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, hormone panels, Vitamin D, inflammatory markers, blood sugar markers)
        • Recommendations for additional labs:  Most lab fees are paid directly to the lab providing the test. Coverage or discounts through health insurance vary per test.
      • Review training log (Training Peaks)
      • Review data from other technology (Apple Watch, FitBit, Garmin)
      • Review body composition results (iDXA, InBody)

  • Weeks 5 – 8:
    • Implement dietary changes:  One – two changes per week translates to long term change
      • Grocery list
      • Supplement recommendations (if necessary)
      • Practical recommendations for meal plan (e.g logistics of your schedule M – F vs. Sat & Sun.)
      • Meal plan outlining total calories, macronutrient percentages, energy expenditure (estimated)
      • Progress through various elimination diets to determine what works. For example: FODMAP, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, HFLC, Paleo, Ketogenic. (if applicable)
